Addiction

Addiction Therapy.

Chemical dependency includes problematic use of alcohol or drugs. This can include illegal/street drugs or abuse of prescription medications.

Behavioural addictions , sometimes called ‘process addictions’ include gambling, the internet, chatroom addiction, love, sex, pornography, self-harm, eating or limiting food intake, anger and shopping.

Addiction can impact negatively in all areas of your life.  Including your ability to function on a daily basis.

This can damage :

  • Relationships
  • Performance at work
  • Home or personal life
  • Physical and psychological health.

As a highly skilled counsellor and psychotherapist, I have worked at a senior level in some of the UK’s premier rehabilitation centres . Familiar with the latest neuroscience of addiction, I specialise in addiction treatment, recovery, relapse prevention and aftercare. I have multiple years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. I support them in using counselling and therapy to move forward and build the lives they have always hoped for.

I have full membership of the Society for the Study of Addiction https://www.addiction-ssa.org This is one of the ways I stay up to date with the latest research findings and newest, most effective ways of working.

I can help you whether your issues are drug, alcohol or behavioural addictions,

There is a requirement to be abstinent from chemical substances when commencing therapy and I can signpost you or your loved one to a detoxification clinic if needed. My role would then commence once detoxed to work on relapse prevention and other deep-seated emotional issues.
